St. Demiana Coptic Orthodox Church (“St. Demiana,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides the St Demiana mobile application (the “App”), including the Android app identified by package name com.stdemiana.droid and the iOS app identified by bundle ID com.stdemiana.ios. This Privacy Policy explains how the App accesses, uses, shares, protects, retains, and deletes information.
Information the App accesses or processes
Push notifications
If you allow notifications, the App and Firebase Cloud Messaging process a device push-notification token and related technical identifiers so we can deliver church announcements and service updates. The token identifies an app installation for notification delivery; it is not used to create a user profile or for advertising. You may disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
Crash and diagnostic information
We use Sentry to identify crashes and improve reliability. When an error occurs, diagnostic information may include the app version, device type, operating-system version, timestamps, error details, stack traces, app state, and network information such as an IP address. We do not intentionally include names, email addresses, message contents, calendar contents, or precise location in diagnostic reports.
Calendar access
When you choose “Add to Calendar,” the App asks for calendar permission, accesses the calendars available on your device as needed, and adds the selected church event to your calendar. This access is initiated by you. We do not upload your calendar contents to our servers. You may revoke calendar permission in your device settings.
Maps and location
The App displays the church’s fixed location and can open a maps application for directions. The App does not collect or store your precise location. If you use Google Maps, Apple Maps, or another external maps service, that provider may process information under its own privacy policy and device permissions.
Website, video, and external services
The App retrieves church schedules, events, announcements, and related content from St. Demiana services. Some screens may display web content or YouTube videos, and links may open third-party apps or websites. Those services may process technical information, cookies, device identifiers, or usage information under their own privacy policies. The App may also let you start an email, telephone call, navigation request, or share action using another app on your device. We do not receive the content of those actions unless you separately choose to send it to us.
Accounts and information you provide
The App does not require or offer user account creation. We do not sell personal information and do not use App data for behavioral advertising. If you contact the church by email, telephone, a website form, or another channel, we use the information you voluntarily provide to respond to your request. Information submitted on the St. Demiana website is also subject to the website’s applicable practices.
How information is used
- To provide church schedules, events, announcements, maps, and other App features.
- To deliver notifications that you have permitted.
- To diagnose errors, maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve App performance.
- To respond when you contact us.
- To comply with applicable law and protect the rights and safety of users, the church, and others.
Service providers and sharing
We share information only as needed with service providers that help operate App features, including Google Firebase for push-notification delivery, Sentry for crash reporting, and map, video, hosting, and content-delivery providers when you use those features. These providers process information according to their terms and privacy practices. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect safety or legal rights, or as part of an organizational transition. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information processed. Network communications with our services use encrypted HTTPS connections where supported. No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Retention and deletion
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the App, troubleshoot problems, meet legal obligations, and protect our services. Push-notification tokens remain usable until they are refreshed, invalidated, or no longer needed. Diagnostic information is retained according to our service-provider settings and operational needs, then deleted or anonymized. Calendar data added through the App remains under your control on your device and can be removed from your calendar. Because the App does not create user accounts, there is no App account to delete.
You may request access to or deletion of personal information that we control by contacting us at contactus@stdemiana.com. We may need to verify a request and may retain information when legally required. You can also clear locally stored App data by uninstalling the App or using your device’s storage settings.
Children’s privacy
The App provides general church information and is not designed to collect personal information from children. It does not offer user accounts or ask users to submit personal information through the App. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, our service providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date.
